COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

We bring Upper Arlington together.

Leadership UA is proud to host community-building events throughout the year. Our events showcase local leadership by promoting understanding of community issues, honoring community leaders, and providing a space for residents to network and learn from each other.

Below is a listing of our annual events. We encourage you to attend as many as you are able.

Candidates Night

As a nonpartisan organization, Leadership Upper Arlington sponsors an annual Candidates Night—an informal question-and-answer forum to get to know the candidates running for office. We see value in increasing information and dialogue within our community whether the election is at the local, state, or national level.

Candidates Night is held in the fall prior to elections and provides residents the opportunity to interact with local candidates and learn more about issues they’ll be voting on. The free event typically begins with a meet-and-greet, where residents can get to know the candidates on a more personal level prior to the moderated question-and-answer forum begins.

Candidates night was hosted October 6, 2023 at the Municipal Services Building, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Leadership Panel

Leadership Panel is an annual event that is hosted in conjunction with the Leadership Upper Arlington Adult Program. Top community leaders are invited onto the panel to discuss the secrets of innovative leadership with the community.

All Upper Arlington residents are invited to the panel, whether or not they are enrolled in the program. The next Leadership Panel is being planned for 2024.

Adult Program Community Project

In our adult leadership classes, participants identify needs within our community and organize class projects to fulfill these needs.  Depending upon the scope of the project, our classes may complete more than one project. These projects often include an event and usually occur in the spring just prior to the Graduation and Award Ceremony.

High School Program Community Project

Participants in our High School Program spend a day of service to better our community. In the past, the day of service has included volunteering at events and other community projects. This program is on hold at this time and will not take place in 2024.

Adult Program Graduation and Award Ceremony

The culmination of the Adult Program is the Graduation and Award Ceremony that occurs annually in the late spring. In addition to the celebration of our new Adult Program graduates, we also recognize select community members through the Exceptional Leadership Award and Distinguished Alumni Award.

Attending the Graduation and Award Ceremony is a great opportunity to meet and celebrate some of the most philanthropic members of our community. In addition, this ticketed event fundraises to improve our programming and give back to Upper Arlington. Graduates of the Adult Program receive a ticket to the event included in their tuition. This year’s event was Thursday, May 4, 2023, 6:00pm at the Upper Arlington Tremont Library
