Leadership UA Spring 2020 Update

Like everyone in our city, the Covid-19 crisis has affected Leadership UA. Yet, like many of our friends and neighbors, we’ve made the best of a challenging situation. We’ve remained busy keeping our current class engaged, and we’re planning for the next class.

Here’s what’s been happening in our world.

HELPING SENIORS:  The current Leadership UA class (and their children!) made colorful notecards and distributed necessity bags to UA seniors in need of a little assistance. The bags, organized through a collaboration between Age Friendly Columbus and Franklin County & The Greater Columbus Network of Villages, included healthy snacks, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and other useful items. You can see examples of their good work on page 3 of the new CityInsight magazine.  View the PDF.

HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM:  Our recent class of first-year high school students completed their LUA experience, with a Zoom call facilitated by OSU's Leadership Center Professor, Beth Flynn who discussed Social and Emotional Intelligence and it's leadership values.

LEADERSHIP ROUNDTABLE:  Just weeks before the Ohio stay-at-home order was announced, LUA and Executive Director Natalie Boe organized and hosted a unique leadership panel discussion attended by the current High School and Adult classes, and several LUA board members.  The panel included Representative Allison Russo, Ohio House of Representatives, District 24; Doug Kridler, President and CEO The Columbus Foundation; Aubree Jones, director of Corporate Social Responsibility, Abercrombie and Fitch; Steve Schoeny, City Manager, Upper Arlington;  and Zoe Switzer, Chief People Officer Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. The wide-ranging conversation, which lasted more than two hours, covered leadership topics including civility, positive engagement, and technology.

NEW WEBSITE!  LUA is proud to unveil its new website, which we hope does an even better job of introducing our organization to those who don’t know us, and explaining our mission and engagement opportunities with an even wider audience.
